This Japanese company will buy your brainwaves and turn them into a work of art.

A Japanese company pays users for their brainwaves and turns them into works of art? Sounds like science fiction? No, it's a real way to make money.

Every day I tell myself that nothing will surprise me anymore, and then… something surprises me anyway.

This time, I was surprised to hear about a Japanese company encouraging customers to… sell their brainwave data . But that's not all, because the BWTC company then transforms it and sells it… as works of art. No, it's not an idea for a new movie, it's real.

As you might expect, the company has already gained considerable traction on social media . Okay, but how does it all work? Those interested must visit the BWTC Metaverse Store in Tokyo. There, they are fitted with a special device that scans their brainwaves, and then they have to wait a moment. How long is that? A whole 100 seconds.

Show your brain for 25 PLN

After the entire procedure, the brainwave "donors" receive a fee of one thousand yen, or... about 25 zloty . Crazy, right?

The unique brain activity is then transformed into a unique work of art , which the company then sells.

"We transform the data into images and value them. These works are then publicly displayed and sold," BWTC representatives explained to the South China Morning Post .

How is a work of art created based on brainwaves valued?

The BWTC team states that the prices of the final works are determined based on factors such as:

  • Aesthetic value
  • Data uniqueness
  • Participant's state of mind during scanning
How much does a work of art created based on brainwaves cost?

The Japanese company later organizes exhibitions featuring works of art created using this unusual method.

And if you're wondering whether such works are in demand later, let me just add that the graphic, which was created based on the brainwaves of a person watching a video of a moving tram during scanning , is valued at 13,900 yen, or... 340 zlotys.

The company boasts that it has already had 1,853 people volunteer to "donate" their own brainwaves, meaning... business is booming. Would you "donate" your brainwaves for 25 złoty?
