Poles will gain new connections. Wizz Air returns to Modlin.

Wizz Air is a popular choice among tourists, primarily due to its competitive fares. It's certain that we'll be pleased to see more travel connections from this airline. The airline's planned return to Modlin was widely reported a year ago. Lengthy negotiations were underway to bring the airline back to its former location after 13 years. This, of course, didn't mean a break from Chopin Airport, where Wizz Air is currently based. What will the outcome be?
Wizz Air returns to ModlinThe Hungarian airline will base two narrow-body Airbuses at Modlin Airport and launch several new routes. "Returning to Modlin does not mean leaving Chopin Airport," reports rynek-lotniczy.pl. Details will be revealed at Friday's press conference, when the official return will also be announced.
Initially, it was known that the changes would take place at the end of the winter season. Now, it's likely that Poles will gain new routes this year. This is due to the fact that Wizz Air Abu Dhabi is discontinuing its operations . This is due to the tense situation in the Middle East. Due to the lack of stable development opportunities, flights there will only be available until September.
Where will Wizz Air fly from Modlin? It's not yet known. Last year, rumors circulated that a route to London Gatwick Airport, among other destinations, might be on the cards. It's certain that more options will be available, and there should be no shortage of Poles' favorite cities, perfect for city breaks.
There is no room left in the Chopin portThe reason Wizz Air is now focusing on expansion in Modlin is quite obvious. Warsaw Airport is running out of space. Expansion will take some time, although it's clear that once the work is completed, the airport's capacity will increase to 30 million passengers annually. Until then, the airport near Warsaw, in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, will provide the airline with additional capacity.
It's worth remembering that Wizz Air already operated from Modlin Airport after its launch in 2012. However, it quickly had to close due to damage to the runway there. The carrier then moved to Chopin Airport, where it has remained ever since.
