Tourism expert Ekaterina Dolgikh told Lenta.ru that you can have a comfortable and eventful summer vacation, even if your budget is limited, and for this it is important to approach planning wisely and not miss the opportunity to save money.
As the publication's interlocutor noted, in order to reduce the burden on the budget, summer vacations should be booked in advance, at least 1.5-2 months before the start of the season. She drew attention to the fact that the earlier tickets are purchased and accommodation is paid for, the higher the chance of getting a good price and choosing from a larger number of available options. The expert emphasized that a number of airlines and hotels offer discounts for early booking, and the benefit in this case can reach 30%.
In addition, Dolgikh advises considering not only hotels, but also apartments, guest houses, and hostels. According to the publication's interlocutor, accommodation without meals is cheaper, and some apartments and guest houses have a kitchen where you can cook your own food. She also recommends that Russians choose cafes and restaurants for meals outside of tourist areas, where prices are usually higher.
You can also save on transportation costs, the expert warns. She explained that to do this, you need to pay attention to sales from airlines, as well as look at flights with transfers or to neighboring cities, since such routes are often cheaper. Dolgikh named another way to save money: traveling with carry-on luggage, so as not to pay for baggage.
The publication's interlocutor urged not to miss out on the benefits and advised using last-minute offers, cashback and bonus programs. She specified that if you are ready for spontaneous trips, last-minute tours can significantly reduce expenses. The expert added that banks and travel services, in turn, offer cashback and various bonuses for booking hotels, which help save money.
