The Itelma company has created a unique device with AI for microbiological research. The new colony counter automatically analyzes the growth of bacteria and their resistance to drugs, simplifying the work of laboratories. The details were announced by the Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy Anatoly Garbuzov.
AI automates analysis, speeds up data processing and improves the accuracy of research.
"The device is equipped with an innovative lighting system, which allows flexible adjustment of the parameters for shooting biological samples. Artificial intelligence provides automatic colony counting, recognizing various types of nutrient media and microorganisms," Garbuzov said.
The technology speeds up and increases the accuracy of analyses without human intervention. The first devices are already operating in Moscow and regional laboratories.
In pharmacology, the system evaluates the effectiveness of antibiotics and the quality of drugs. In epidemiology, it identifies the resistance of microorganisms, which is important for infection control in hospitals and food production.
"Integration of artificial intelligence algorithms with our optoelectronic modules has made it possible to achieve reliability and reproducibility in the creation of high-precision analytical and diagnostic tools. The solution is based on an AI core of our own design, implemented in a compact hardware design," said Alexey Vorobyov, CEO of NPP Itelma.
