Solemont: A pétanque tournament to help Anna, 4, who suffers from a rare disease

This Saturday, September 13, starting at 1:30 p.m., the Solemont pétanque grounds will host a sporting and charitable event: a competition organized by the association "GRIN2B Le Combat d'Anna" to raise public awareness of a rare genetic disease, GRIN2B syndrome, and to raise funds to help Anna's development.
GRIN2B syndrome "affects 700 people worldwide. Anna, our 4-year-old daughter, doesn't speak, doesn't walk, and can't sit up on her own. She also can't feed herself. It's a very serious syndrome that requires a lot of adaptation on a daily basis," says Tiffany Wanham, Anna's mother.
This disease affects so few people worldwide that doctors cannot predict how Anna will progress. "Anna needed a special stroller because, to this day, she cannot sit up in a chair. This stroller cost us a lot of money, and we have little support from institutions. Today, Anna needs to go to a specialized center on the other side of France to undergo an intensive rehabilitation course that could help her progress. The week at the center, excluding accommodation and travel, costs €1,700. This amount is not covered by Social Security," explains Tiffany.
The association "GRIN2B Le Combat d'Anna" was created to raise funds to pay for this stay. A pétanque competition is therefore being organized in Solemont. The tournament, which is sold out, will take place on the pétanque courts near the Louis-Parret stadium, providing a friendly setting for this day of solidarity. Places are still available for the meal that will take place after the competition, an additional opportunity to make a donation to Anna and her family.
Saturday, September 13th, starting at 1:30 p.m. at the Louis-Parret stadium in Solemont. Refreshments and snacks are available on site. Evening meal by reservation only: fried fish/chips menu provided by the Eau Doubs Poissons fish farm in Soulce Cernay for €18 or ham/chips menu for €15. Information and registration for the meal: 06 33 15 77 41.
