Mulhouse. The Electropolis Museum revives the diverse memories of Fessenheim

In Mulhouse, the Electricity Museum brings together objects and testimonies broadly retracing the history of the nuclear power plant, its local impact and the men who operated it, as well as the struggle of environmental associations.

The Fessenheim nuclear power plant stopped producing electricity in 2020 and its decommissioning is not expected to begin until next year. However, as soon as its final shutdown was confirmed, EDF staff, specialist historians, and the Electropolis museum began to consider how to preserve the memory of this Alsatian industrial adventure, a pioneer in France.
