In the incident that occurred at around 22:00 in the Fevzi Çakmak Neighborhood, residents of the neighborhood who noticed heavy smoke coming from the abandoned building reported the situation to the fire department. Citizens noticed that the person staying in the building had lit a fire with garbage and was having difficulty breathing due to the heavy smoke. However, the person, who did not accept the citizens who wanted to help him, continued to resist. Thereupon, the firefighters who entered the building quickly extinguished the fire, while the suspect who resisted was removed from the building by the police.

The person who lit a fire from garbage in the abandoned building mobilized the people around him when the building was covered in thick smoke. The people around him tried to persuade the man who was having difficulty breathing to get him out of the building. However, the person refused to accept help, shouting, "You are entering my house without permission, leave me alone."

POLICE REMOVED FROM THE BUILDING
Upon notification, police, fire department and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. The person, who was convinced by the police teams affiliated with the Pendik District Police Department, was taken out of the building and taken to the police station. Fire department teams quickly extinguished the fire. It was learned that the suspect lived alone and had psychological problems.

Umut Yılmaz, who lives in the neighbourhood, said , "He has been coming in here for 15-20 days. The police were notified, his criminal record was checked. Since there was no problem, there was no problem. Today, he set a tire on fire. He had not set a tire on fire before. He is from outside, I do not know him. No one in the neighbourhood knows him either."
