The Crown Coin, a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II

The Crown Coin will be offered by British auction house Stanley Gibbons Baldwin . While the team optimistically stated that the coin could fetch £3 million, experts suspect the final price could be significantly higher. Suffice it to say that in 2022, this numismatic Holy Grail was independently valued at £16 million.

Why? The commemorative coin contains approximately 3.61 kilograms of pure, 24-karat gold and an extraordinary 6,426 diamonds.

At the heart of The Crown Coin is a one-kilogram gold coin with a face value of £10,000. It is surrounded by ten one-ounce coins featuring official portraits of Queen Elizabeth II from her reign and the Queen's virtues from the Victoria Memorial.

" Queen Elizabeth II has been an inspiration to generations, embodying the virtues that have guided her for the past seven decades, which are celebrated in this rare and unique tribute. I was inspired to undertake a mission that encompasses all British citizens, as well as all those who are fascinated by Queen Elizabeth II and British history – engaging them in an inclusive way in sharing her achievements," the East India Company website states.

The Crown Coin Auction Coming September 25th

As the auction house notes, the relationship between the East India Company and the Crown dates back more than four centuries. Queen Elizabeth I granted it its original royal charter in 1600. King Charles II granted it the unique privilege of minting its own coinage in 1677. In 1835, King William IV authorized the use of the monarch's image on coins, setting a precedent that is reflected in The Crown Coin .

The sale of this exceptional item at Stanley Gibbons Baldwin auction house is undoubtedly an event of great significance in the world of collecting. It's coming up on September 25th!
