Roberta Flack died at home surrounded by family, the star's publicist Elaine Schock told CNN.
"We are heartbroken to hear that the wonderful Roberta Flack passed away this morning, February 24, 2025. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. Roberta broke boundaries and records," the singer's representative said in a statement.
The artist struggled with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Flack was the first female artist to win the Grammy Award for Record of the Year in two consecutive years: "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" in 1973, and "Killing Me Softly with His Song" in 1974.
In total, the artist has won five Grammy Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award, which she received in 2020.
During her career, the singer placed six songs in the Top 10 of the American "Billboard" chart. Her achievements end with the 2012 album "Let It Be Roberta" with songs by The Beatles . The singer was a neighbor of John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono at The Dakota House in New York. In 2018, she recorded the single "Running" for the documentary film "3100: Run and Become".
