Amal Clooney Made a Dramatic Return to Cannes in an Off-The-Shoulder John Galliano Gown
On Friday, Amal Clooney walked the red carpet solo at the Cannes Film Festival, making a glamorous show in an off-the-shoulder-black gown by John Galliano from the Christian Dior archives. The lawyer was not accompanied by her husband, George Clooney, as she attended Bono’s documentary premiere, Stories of Surrender.
The dress featured a dramatic train that fell behind her on the Palais Des Festivals steps and an off-the-shoulder neckline. The bodice and skirt wrapped around her in a form-fitting silhouette and her long hair was styled in a dramatic sweep. In her ears, Amal wore a pair of diamond drop earrings and accessorized with some silver rings and carried a black clutch purse. She wore a coral lip and rosy eyeshadow for a subtle makeup palette.
Later, she was photographed in a different look with Bono, Rachida Dati, Aurore Bergé and Baria Alamuddin at Le Panorama Rooftop. Amal changed into a glimmering gold baby minidress with an embossed lace pattern for the after-party event. In one hand, she carried a gold clutch. The Clooneys have been friends with Bono for many years and he attended their wedding in 2014.
In an interview with Gayle King in April, George shared a bit about life at home with Amal and their seven-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander.
“Amal and I are having a really great time in life,” he said. “We were here with you once before and I remember we said we’d never had an argument; we still haven’t. We’re trying to find something to fight about.”
He added, “I feel so extraordinarily lucky to have met this incredible woman, and I feel as if I hit the jackpot. And there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think I’m the luckiest man in the world.”
The couple generally keeps details about their kids quiet, but in a rare comment, George shared, “The kids are seven, about to be eight, which is a pretty great age. They’re really curious and funny—and make us laugh.”
