Salies-de-Béarn in the running for the title of the most beautiful market in France

Salies-de-Béarn in the running for the title of the most beautiful market in France

The city of salt is a candidate for the "Your Most Beautiful Market" competition, organized by TF1 and "Sud Ouest." Voting is open until May 29.

This Monday, April 28, in partnership with several regional press titles, including "Sud Ouest," TF1 launched the 8th edition of the "Your Most Beautiful Market" competition. A selection of 24 markets was unveiled: in Aquitaine, Salies-de-Béarn was chosen for its charming weekly market, which can be found every Thursday between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the Place du Bayaà.

Already in 2021, Salies was voted the most beautiful market in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, and ranked third regionally. On average, 50 exhibitors set up shop there each week. The market showcases local producers and breeders: foie gras, mutton, charcuterie, honey, organic fruits and vegetables, cheeses, wines, delicatessen products... But you can also find jewelry, pottery, leather goods, and even a mobile seamstress.

Good to know: the markets on Thursdays May 1 , May 8 and May 29 – all public holidays – will continue.

Online voting

In 2025, the City of Salt will take a new step forward, competing at the national level with the markets of Ajaccio in Corsica, Notre-Dame-de-Versailles in Île-de-France, and Saint-Pierre in Réunion. The public can now vote for their favorite market until May 29 at 8 p.m. by visiting votreplusbeaumarche.fr

On May 30, TF1 news anchor Marie-Sophie Lacarrau will announce the 10 finalists. Reports will then be broadcast between June 2 and 13, the deadline for the second online vote.

Winner revealed on June 23

Then a jury made up of three personalities and three viewers, selected during a competition, will meet to debate and vote for their favorite market.

The final result will be revealed during the week of June 23: the big winner will be revealed live on TF1's 1 p.m. news, from the winning market.
