Fatal poisoning in Aisne: Health Minister confirms E. coli bacteria as responsible
Health Minister Yannick Neuder confirmed on Sunday that the severe food poisoning cases in the Aisne region were caused by the Escherichia coli bacteria.

The severe food poisoning cases that have affected 18 children in the Aisne department since June 12 are due to the Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacterium, Health Minister Yannick Neuder confirmed on Sunday evening.

These 18 children "contracted a bacterium called Escherichia coli," Neuder said during a press briefing in Saint-Quentin (Aisne). Of these 18 children, a 12-year-old girl died on Monday and eight are still hospitalized, including six suffering from hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a serious kidney condition, the minister added.
