Television. "Love is in the Meadow" returns this Monday: what does this anniversary season have in store for you?

The cult show returns to M6 this Monday, August 25. This 20th season will be "full of love" and surprises, promises host Karine Le Marchand. Here's what to expect.

Will season 20 of L'Amour est dans le pré , which returns this Monday, August 25 on M6, do better than the previous one? Last year, 4.7 million viewers watched the cult show – a seven-year audience record. Season 19 was also prolific on the romantic front , with eight couples formed.

Not all of them have survived the ravages of time, as we will immediately discover in a special episode "What have they become?". The farmers of season 19 , who have formed strong bonds, met near Paris to take stock of their romantic situation. They took the opportunity to celebrate the 70th birthday of their "national Gillou", who had caused a sensation last year. A "big surprise" for the colorful Sarthois, who confides that he "met someone" a few months ago.

A candidate has not received any letters

What will happen to the candidates of season 20? The harvest also promises to be fruitful, with seven pairs still in a relationship before the assessment, out of the 14 who participated in the show, confides Karine Le Marchand . 14, and not 15: Antoine, a farmer from the Vosges, whose profile was broadcast in January, unfortunately did not receive any letters.

"It's a shame because he's a good guy," laments Denis, a breeder from Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes who has only had one love affair so far. But Karine Le Marchand doesn't despair: "Among those who didn't receive any mail last year, some are in relationships," she points out. It is still possible to write to Antoine (*).

For those lucky enough to receive letters—"a suspended moment," according to Julien, a cereal farmer in Nouvelle-Aquitaine—the adventure continued on the now-iconic speed-dating barge. "The choice was very difficult," recalls Gilles, who came from the Pays de la Loire region.

"There was a lot of evidence at speed dating," says Karine Le Marchand. The connections were then confirmed—or not—on the farm. But the host assures us that this season is "rich in love," even if there were "a lot of breakups between the weekend [off the farm, editor's note] and the final results."

Jean-Louis A., a farmer in Occitanie, says he experienced "some very intense moments." "It's a growth spurt; I learned about myself during the show," says Océane, a young market gardener from Brittany. "We're not the same anymore," confirms Laurent, a farmer in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

New this season: L'Amour vu du pré , the debriefing show broadcast after L'Amour est dans le pré , will not only include former candidates. Those from season 20 will also participate and will be able to comment on their own footage. "I would have liked to have that," notes Valentin from season 19, "because I was worried about the public's reception."

"ADP" has one last surprise in store for its fans. "A big evening" is planned to celebrate its 20th anniversary, according to M6. On the program? More than 80 farmers who have appeared on the show, gathered in a reconstructed village, led by Karine Le Marchand. It's promising.

Karine Le Marchand continues to defend the agricultural cause

"We're here to talk about love," not to advocate for the demands of the agricultural world, insists Gilles, a contestant on season 20. The fact remains that in nearly 20 years, the show "has changed the image of farmers, we realize that we need them," says Karine Le Marchand. The presenter has, as it were, become an ambassador for the farming world, going so far as to carry their voices to demonstrations and create a label .

A cause she has not abandoned since the social unrest at the beginning of the year: "I hope it will have an impact on politicians," she says, regretting the lack of a minimum wage in the sector and the contempt shown by certain distributors. Karine Le Marchand emphasizes the importance of the value of work among farmers, while "work is precisely the main reason for their singlehood."
