It's a first: Spotify France is leaving the streaming scene to invest in the stage.
On November 18, the platform will organize a new festival at the Palais Brongniart (Paris), the Spotify EQUAL Festival, dedicated exclusively to French-speaking female artists .
Headliners and revelationsOn the bill, a cast that serves as a summary of the current scene: Clara Luciani, pop icon already a regular at the Zéniths, Shay, rap figure, but also Charlotte Cardin, Theodora, Oklou, Miki and Bamby.
A line-up designed to cross genres and reflect the diversity of aesthetics, from song to electro, including pop and rap.
From playlist to stageThis festival is an extension of the Spotify EQUAL program, born in 2021 to correct the persistent imbalance between male and female artists in the music industry.
In four years, more than 1,075 artists have already benefited from this exhibition (some of whom, like Theodora and Miki, are now on the poster).
The promise: to transform an activist playlist into a large-scale live event.

On the practical side, the ticket office opens this Tuesday, August 26 at 10 a.m. via the Shotgun application, after an initial access reserved for "fans first."
A timing that challengesSymbolically, the event comes at a strategic time: as Spotify navigates a series of controversies—from the boycott by certain artists to the controversy over Daniel Ek's investments in the military industry—the Swedish firm intends to recall its role as a cultural pioneer and its commitment to equality.
It remains to be seen whether the graft will take hold. Because while Spotify reigns supreme on our headphones and playlists, it has never yet tested its power at a festival.
But behind the glamorous veneer, the event also sounds like an image operation for a company shaken by calls for boycotts and repeated controversies .
In other words, it's hard to forget that Spotify is playing a much more role here than just a musical score. Verdict on November 18.
Nice Matin
