A prestigious Parisian art school is returning to Nice

The Louvre. The word makes you dream. For the cultural prestige it conveys. For its school. The famous École du Louvre. What if the people of Nice took a little ownership of this legendary higher education institution, created at the end of the 19th century in symbiosis with French museums, dependent on the Ministry of Culture and training art and museum historians? Indeed, this unique institution, which also opens itself up to an amateur audience, is back in Nice, at the Artistique, 27, boulevard Dubouchage, with seventeen courses divided into two cycles. A partnership with the City as part of a cultural policy accessible to all, which dates back to 1991. We discuss this with Sandra Décimo, head of the auditorium service at the school, housed in the sublime museum on rue de Rivoli.
Who are these Nice-style courses aimed at?For non-professionals and amateurs only. It's for everyone. No diploma is required to attend the courses, but no certification is issued upon completion.
What is the program for this session? There is a first cycle of introduction to the general history of art, consisting of twelve courses spread over three years, which begin on Wednesday, September 17. There is then a cycle of five courses, the theme of which changes each year. This time, it's Braque, Picasso, and Cubism, and it begins in March 2026. The courses take place every Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Who are the teachers?Historians, curators, teacher-researchers, heritage professionals.
Are the courses paid?Yes. For the introduction to general art history, the full price is 100 euros and the reduced price is 60 euros (under 26, unemployed, RSA, etc.). For the cycle on the defined theme, the price is 75 euros and the reduced price is 45 euros.
