"Drag Race France All Stars": Mami Watta crowned winner at the Olympia

The drag queen triumphed after a colorful finale, which she managed to dominate. She became the first winner of this version, which brought together ten former contestants from the France 2 program.
By Marianne ChenouCrowned thanks to her performance of Lady Gaga's "Abracadabra." The drag queen Mami Watta won the show “Drag Race France All Stars” this Thursday, August 28, after defeating Elips, during the final which took place at the Olympia, in Paris.
Four candidates remained in the running for the title of "new queen of French drag": Elips, Mami Watta, Misty Phoenix and Piche . After the ten participants of the season entered the stage in order of elimination, it was the turn of the presenter Nicky Doll who made her appearance on the legendary Parisian stage.
This year's new rules led the finalists to compete in a lip-sync elimination tournament: Elips faced off against Piche to Patrick Hernandez's "Born to Be Alive" and Mami Watta took on Misty Phoenix to Theodora's "Kongolese sous BBL." And there was no debate in choosing the two finalists, who ultimately settled down in a final battle to Lady Gaga's hit.
Filmed on August 21st in public, the show did everything it could to maintain the suspense until the very end: as per the American format, two endings were filmed with a crowning achievement for each of the finalists. So, we had to wait until after midnight this Thursday evening to finally discover the name of the winner.
Mami Watta, 26, becomes the first winner of the "All Stars" franchise in France, having been among the four finalists in season 2. Originally from Ivory Coast, the drag queen had notably confided during the show about the difficult relationship she had with her family, who were reluctant to pursue her artistic career. With three victories this season, she won the "Talent show," the "Girl groups," and the "Roast," the program's essential challenges. She therefore won a crown, a scepter, and the sum of 30,000 euros.
