The Ministry of Information and Communications (MINCIT) signs an agreement for the construction of six tourist docks for small boats in Santa Marta.

As part of the commemoration of Santa Marta's 500th anniversary, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism (MinCIT), through Fontur, signed an agreement with the District Mayor's Office of this Caribbean city for the construction of six permanent tourist docks for small boats.
According to the ministry, the total investment in the project is more than 21.6 million Colombian pesos , of which Fontur would contribute approximately 17.7 million Colombian pesos, while the District Mayor's Office would contribute 3.92 million Colombian pesos.

These docks are expected to directly benefit 1.3 million tourists and generate 562,000 direct and indirect jobs, further consolidating the city as one of the main tourist destinations in the country and the Colombian Caribbean.
Fernando Estupiñán, acting general manager of Fontur, stated that this initiative aims to strengthen Santa Marta's "tourist vocation" and increase the local economic impact. "(Santa Marta) is projected as a modern, sustainable, inclusive city connected to the world," he added.

The new docks will be located in the Pozos Colorados, Rodadero, Playa Blanca, Taganga, Playa Grande, and Airport sectors . This will strengthen the tourism infrastructure and provide better maritime access for national and international visitors.
The Ministry of Information and Communications (MINCIT) explains that the planned infrastructure seeks to harmoniously integrate with the natural environment to ensure a tourist experience that values and preserves the region's environmental heritage.
Carlos Pinedo, mayor of Santa Marta, stated: "As a local government , we are committed to closing gaps , and the construction of these docks will achieve this goal. It will generate economic and social development for the city."
The entity also announced that calls for tenders for the contracting of works and supervision will soon be launched. These will be carried out in groups of two docks, allowing three companies or consortia to execute the work and three companies or consortia to carry out the supervision.
