Ranking of the 100 best cities in the world for walking: there are three in Colombia.

GuruWalk, the world's leading free tour platform* , recently revealed its annual ranking of the 100 ideal destinations for walking, exploring their history, and connecting with the architecture and culture of each city.
For the analysis, bookings made between March 31, 2024, and April 1, 2025, on the GuruWalk website and app were considered . The platform also cross-referenced this data with the number of visits to each destination's pages on the platform.

Of the users, 50.5 percent come from countries in the European Union, while 16 percent come from the United Kingdom and the United States (8 percent each), and the rest from Argentina (4 percent), Canada (2.2 percent), Mexico (2 percent), and Australia (2 percent).
Cities on the podium For 2025, Rome (Italy) remains in first place, followed by Budapest (Hungary) and Madrid (Spain). Rounding out the top five are Prague (Czech Republic) and Barcelona (Spain). These results consolidate Europe's position as the epicenter of urban foot tourism.

The list also highlights several Latin American cities, such as Mexico City, which ranked 35th; Medellín, which ranked 37th ; and Cartagena, which ranked 40th. Buenos Aires (45th) and Cusco (47th) also appear in the top 50, having climbed 15 and 19 places, respectively, compared to last year's ranking.
Other Latin American cities also stand out on the list, such as Lima (53), Bogotá (62), Antigua Guatemala (72) , Rio de Janeiro (80), Arequipa (81), Oaxaca (85), Montevideo (98) and Mérida (100).
The naming of these cities reflects the interest of the traveling community not only in living new local experiences, but also in walking the cities as a plan to truly get to know what these places offer .
"More and more travelers want to experience the world in a more open, intimate, and sustainable way. Walking is the best way to connect with a city and its people ," says Belén Casanova, head of supply at GuruWalk. "The fact that so many Latin American cities are in the ranking demonstrates the region's potential to offer soulful tourism experiences," she adds.

Among the main changes observed compared to last year, Ho Chi Minh City rose 39 positions (from 99 to 60), while Asian destinations such as Tokyo (36), Kyoto (42) and Osaka (68) have made strong inroads into the ranking.
On the other hand, cities like Segovia (which dropped from 54th to 89th), Salamanca, and Bilbao, all in Spain, are losing positions, reflecting a shift in traveler interest.
