Alec Baldwin Speaks Out After Car Crash With Brother Stephen Baldwin
Alec Baldwin and Stephen Baldwin were involved in a terrifying incident.
The 30 Rock star, 67, shared that he and his youngest brother, 59, are safe after he drove a Range Rover head-first into a tree in East Hampton, N.Y.
“This morning, I was in a car accident,” Alec said in an Oct. 13 Instagram video. “I'm fine.”
He said that a garbage truck that was “the size of a whale” cut him off while driving his wife Hilaria Baldwin’s car through an East Hampton neighborhood.
“To avoid hitting him,” Alec continued, “I hit a big fat tree and crushed my wife's car. I crushed my wife's car—I feel bad about that.”
He added, “That's all fine, and I'm fine, and my brother's fine. My wife's car is pretty smashed up. Big tree, big fat tree.”
In addition to sharing his gratitude for the East Hampton Police Department, Alec noted that he would soon be leaving New York to visit Hilaria and their kids Carmen, 11, Rafael, 10, Leonardo, 8, Romeo, 7, Eduardo, 4, María Lucía, 4, and Ilaria, 2.
“I'm going to L.A. to see my family,” he concluded. “Can't wait. Going out to California to gather my family together, spend a few days out there and then come home.”
Alec also alluded to Hilaria’s recent elimination from Dancing With the Stars, noting, “I'm still so proud of my wife, Hilaria. I love you more than anything, and I'm very proud of you.”
For his part, Stephen also spoke out about the car crash, confirming he, too, is OK.
“Stephen is doing fine and is grateful no one was injured,” his rep told E! News in a statement. “He appreciates the concern and he can confirm that he and Alec are both safe and well."
In pictures and footage of the crash obtained by TMZ, Alec and Stephen stood in the rain and spoke with police who responded to the scene. The It’s Complicated actor also made a phone call while standing beside the tree and damaged car, which had its front end damaged in the crash.
It appears that Stephen went to a restaurant following the incident, as he shared a clip to his Instagram Story in the afternoon showing himself ordering a hamburger, fries and drink from All American Hamburger Drive In in Massapequa, N.Y.
In the days leading up to the crash, the Baldwin brothers attended the Hamptons International Film Festival to promote their One Bad Movie podcast series, which Stephen hosts and has featured Alec on multiple episodes.
Though Alec and Stephen have not starred in a movie or TV project together, they rose to prominence in the ‘80s and ‘90s alongside their actor brothers Daniel Baldwin, 65, and Billy Baldwin, 62. (The brothers also grew up with their sisters Elizabeth Baldwin Keuchler, 69, and Jane Baldwin Sasso, 60.)
“We’re still kind of pinching ourselves,” Stephen told Vanity Fair in 2012, referencing the family’s fame. “From my perspective, we’re just four dumb jocks from Long Island.”
Meanwhile, Alec—also dad to daughter Ireland Baldwin, 29, with ex Kim Basinger—has reflected on how his kids are experiencing a similar childhood to his own.
“We were four boys growing up. Two sisters. Hilaria and I have four boys. Two girls,” Alec wrote on Instagram in February 2022, alongside a picture of two of his sons. “The best of times (and the worst of times) were shared with my brothers.”
He concluded, “Brothers. It’s real.”

Alexander Rae Baldwin III—the Emmy-winning actor known as Alec Baldwin—was born April 3, 1958, to Alexander Rae Baldwin Jr. and Carol Newcomb. He's the second of six siblings and the oldest brother.
Next came Daniel Baldwin, born October 5, 1960. William "Billy" Baldwin arrived on February 21, 1963, followed by Stephen Baldwin, the youngest of the bunch, on May 12, 1966.
The eldest of the six siblings is Elizabeth "Beth" Baldwin Keuchler, born in 1955 and now a mother of six with her landscape architect husband Charles Keuchler.
No. 5 of six is Jane Baldwin Sasso, born in 1965. She's married to Randy Sasso and reportedly has two children.
Their father died at the age of 55 in 1983 but Carol—who survived a 1991 breast cancer diagnosis—lived until she was 92. She passed away May 26, 2022, with 25 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and an eponymous cancer research foundation to her name.
“My mother taught me about second acts. And third ones, too," Alec wrote in tribute when she died. "She spent the last 25 years of her life as a fighter and a champion for the cause to which she devoted so much energy."
Alec was married to Oscar winner Kim Basinger from 1993 until 2002.
Their daughter Ireland Baldwin was born Oct. 23. 1995.
Alec married Hilaria Baldwin (née Thomas) on June 30, 2012.

Also on the anniversary of his diagnosis, Vance posted to his own account, per USA Today, that he had "been clear" for months.

Baby of the Baldwin family Stephen has been married to Kennya Deodato since June 10, 1990.
They're parents to daughters Alaia, born Jan. 23, 1993, and daughter Hailey, born Nov. 22, 1996.
Alaia wed Pocket Ace Productions founder Andrew Aronow in 2017 and they welcomed daughter Iris Elle Aranow on Aug. 17, 2020.

While they were friends for a decade, it was after a rather whirlwind romance that Hailey wed Justin Bieber in a no-frills New York courthouse ceremony on Sept. 13, 2018.
They further sealed the deal with more lavish nuptials in South Carolina on Sept. 30, 2019, allowing dad Stephen to walk the bride down the aisle and sister Alaia and cousin Ireland to serve as a bridesmaids.
While she swapped her maiden name for her similarly famous married name soon after she and Justin legally wed, it wasn't a decision Hailey took lightly.
