So far in 2025, Jalisco has positioned itself as the Mexican state with the highest number of dengue cases. According to data collected through May 29, 706 cases have been recorded in the region, 100 more than Veracruz, which ranks second.
Of the total cases detected in Jalisco, more than half (364) are serious or with warning signs.
These figures contrast with those from last year, when only 84 positive cases were recorded in the first five months of 2024.
The Mexican Social Security Institute ( IMSS ) notes that dengue is a viral disease caused by the bite of an infected mosquito. Symptoms appear four to seven days after infection and include severe headache, fever, bone and eye pain, vomiting, insomnia, abdominal pain, and others.

In this context, it is vital to take preventative measures, such as removing or covering containers that can collect water, regularly replacing water in vases and other containers, using mosquito repellent, keeping patios and gardens clean, and installing screens on doors and windows.
