IndiGo Expands into Long-Haul Routes with Jetstar Codeshare Agreement

The IndiGo–Jetstar codeshare shows just how much the aviation scene in Asia is changing. On one side, you have IndiGo growing quickly and getting ready for long-haul routes. On the other, Jetstar is pulling back and sticking to what it knows best.

One month after announcing the closure of its Singapore subsidiary, Jetstar has inked a new codeshare deal with IndiGo. It’s a move that connects two major low-cost carriers.

The new agreement allows IndiGo passengers to book trips to 14 destinations in Australia and New Zealand on Jetstar flights through IndiGo’s platform.

While Qantas, Jetstar’s parent company, already has a codeshare with IndiGo, this new arrangement adds direct access to Jetstar’s low-cost routes in Australasia, connecting via Singapore, Bangkok, and Phuket.

It comes at a time when IndiGo is steadily shifting from a regional airline to one with serious global ambitions.
