Delta’s Lawsuit Against Marriott Hotel Brand Goes to Trial

A long-running trademark dispute between Delta Air Lines and Marriott went to trial this week, with the airline accusing the hotel giant of trying to “hijack” its brand by bringing Canadian hotel chain Delta Hotels to the U.S.
Marriott bought the chain in 2015, and Delta filed a lawsuit in 2020. It argued that Marriott violated the carrier’s trademark by branding Delta Hotels in an all-caps, dark blue sans-serif font.
