You’ll Either Love or Loathe Lorde’s Comeback as a Vogue Australia Cover Girl…

Christine Centenera has now been at the helm of Vogue Australia for a little over three years. Centenera, who previously served as the magazine’s fashion director, has managed to secure a whole plethora of talent as cover stars. Throughout 2025 alone, international talent like Natalie Portman and Lila Moss have became cover stars while Centenera has championed homegrown talent like Troye Sivan and Sarah Snook. On the cover of Vogue Australia for July 2025 is Lorde. The New Zealand singer and songwriter makes a comeback as an Aussie Vogue cover girl three years after her last, via the lens of photographer Daniel Jackson. In cover one (below), Lorde is dressed by Centenera herself in a mashup of pieces from Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, and New York-based designer Zoe Gustavia Anna Whalen.

“I think Lorde is the only person that Vogue Australia does justice. Every time she’s on their cover, she looks better and better,” remarked BalkaniStaCouture upon checking out the cover.
“I like it! Very on her brand. The close up cover is my fave,” JPineapple chimed in.
Yet not everyone was so forthcoming. “She always looks miserable,” called out Avonlea.
“I’ve never understood her appeal. Ever,” declared forum member mepps.
“I hate the covers. Lorde looks sad, tired, unhappy and uninterested. Very gloomy. It’s like: are you really talking to readers with such boring covers?” voiced an unamused Bertrando3.
“It all just appears so gloomy, hazy, and depressing. Vogue Australia always used to spark joy, and now it just sparks… sadness and depression. The colouring and lighting from Daniel Jackson’s photography here is awful,” wrote vogue28.
