Toni Braxton & Birdman Privately Married, Nearly Split 2 Weeks Later

It seems Birdman did indeed un-break Toni Braxton's heart.
Because in the span of a few months, the "Still Fly" rapper and the Grammy winner privately tied the knot, were on the road to divorce with the latter filing, and then appeared to reconcile as she dismissed the petition, according to legal documents obtained by TMZ.
Birdman, whose name is Bryan Christopher Williams, and Braxton wed Aug. 8, 2024, following eight years of dating, per the documents obtained by the outlet. However, the "You're Makin' Me High" singer filed for divorce two weeks after the nuptials, listing their date of separation as Aug. 10.
Braxton, 57, described their marriage as "irretrievably broken," but in January 2025, she dismissed her divorce petition, which Birdman, 56, also signed off on, per TMZ.
E! News has reached out to reps for Birdman and Braxton for comment and has not yet heard back.
Their private wedding took place just eight months after the Braxton Family Values alum—who shares kids Denim Cole Braxton-Lewis, 23, and Diezel Ky Braxton-Lewis, 22, with ex-husband Keri Lewis—emphasized that she and the rapper were just friends.
"My dear friend @birdman and I are not married…never been married," she wrote on Instagram in December 2023. "We are both single."
Her caption accompanied a screenshot that proclaimed she and Birdman "married in a private ceremony in Mexico," but she added the text "#FAKENEWS" onto the photo.
But this wasn't the first time wedding bells rang for the couple. After all, the rapper had previously proposed to Braxton in 2018.
Although they didn't make it down the aisle, Birdman—who is dad to Bryan Williams Jr., 28, and Bria Williams, 26, from a previous relationship—emphasized on the Wendy Williams Show in 2019 that they were still going strong.
The couple, who had been friends for over 15 years, began dating in 2016 following his major support amid her battle with lupus.
"In 2016, I was doing a little tour, just testing the market [to see] how far my endurance could go—and I got ill just before we went out," Braxton told People in 2019. "Every day I had a show, he came. Every night, he would ask me, 'Are you okay? Are you good?' I said, 'Oh my God, he's such a great guy!'"
And when Birdman expressed his romantic feelings, she recalled, "He told me he always liked me and I was like, 'You never told me!' And he's like, 'Well, you were married!' He said, 'I was always digging you.'"
