Tom Holland Corrects Reporter Who Calls Zendaya His Girlfriend

Tom Holland Corrects Reporter Who Calls Zendaya His Girlfriend
Storm Reid Shares Hope for Zendaya Ahead of Tom Holland Wedding

Tom Holland caught a silly mistake in his web.

The Spider-Man: No Way Home star adorably corrected a journalist who referred to Zendaya—who he got engaged to in January—as his "girlfriend" while speaking on a panel.

"I brought my daughter, and she got to meet your girlfriend," the reporter recalled of a recent event attended by the Euphoria actress in the clip shared to X Sept. 29. "So, I was father of the year."

In response to the anecdote, Tom laughed off the label before quickly correcting, "Fiancée."

Of course, it's no surprise the Uncharted actor would want to set the record straight on his relationship with Zendaya, which was first made public in 2021. After all, his dad Dominic Holland made it clear that a lot of thought went into his proposal, which happened over the 2024 holiday season.

“He had purchased a ring," Dominic wrote in a Patreon post back in January. “He had spoken with her father and gained permission to propose to his daughter. Tom had everything planned out… When, where, how, what to say, what to wear."

And Zendaya is equally as pumped to show off proof that she's headed down the aisle. In fact, the Dune: Part II actress was the one who put the spotlight on their new milestone back in January, when she stepped out at the 2025 Golden Globes rocking her massive five-carat diamond on that finger.

However, while the couple certainly seem excited about their upcoming nuptials, they're also not in any rush to officially become husband and wife, according to Zendaya's stylist Law Roach.

In fact, as of July, the duo hadn't even started wedding planning.

“The process hasn't even started yet," Law told E! News at the time. “Zendaya is working on so many movies. She's now filming the next iteration of Dune, so she's away doing that. It's so many movies, so we have time. We have a lot of time.”

But when their special day does finally come, it's guaranteed to bring the waterworks.

"[They] really love each other and have for a really long time," Law explained. "The fact that the world has been able to share in that love story, I think it's really beautiful."

Zendaya and Tom Holland, engaged since December 2024, are taking their time with wedding planning.

"I’m resting up for 2026," the actress' longtime stylist Law Roach quipped to E! News in April 2025 when the subject of Zendaya's big day was broached.

Several months later, he told E! at the Las Culturistas Culture Awards that "the process hasn't even started yet." He explained, "Zendaya is working on so many movies. She's now filming the next iteration of Dune, so she's away doing that. It's so many movies, so we have time. We have a lot of time."

Presumably there will be dresses, one for the vows, another for the reception and others for nuptial-adjacent activities. (Though that isn't to say there won't be a stunning outfit involving pants somewhere in the itinerary.)

But what there won't be, Law predicted, is a glossy chronicling of how it all came together, the pro guessing that "nobody will ever see" her bridal look.

Zendaya and Tom are "trying to be as private as possible," the Project Runway judge explained on a May episode of Complex's Please Explain. "There won't be a Vogue spread or there won't be pictures of the wedding and the people who she will invite will be really respectful of their privacy, so it will be a really beautiful dress that no one gets to see."

The tiniest sample size of possibilities: Louis Vuitton's Nicolas Ghesquière and Michael Kors are among the designers close to Zendaya's heart, and other favorite labels include Versace, Valentino and Tom Ford.

Obviously the Tom-Zendaya nuptials have the potential to be an extremely star-studded affair should they go that route.

In addition to parents and siblings (Zendaya has three half-sisters and two half-brothers on her father's side) while Tom has three younger brothers), the bride's list could include pals Timothée Chalamet, Bella Thorne and Hunter Schafer, and the groom is close in real life with Jacob Batalon, who plays Peter Parker's best friend Ned in the MCU.

"She's really become a sister," Timothée told Variety in 2022 of his Dune costar. "I’m so grateful to count her as a partner and a sister and a friend."

Storm Reid, who played Zendaya's little sister on Euphoria, told People she would love to be a flower girl at the wedding. But, she added, "whenever it happens, I'm so happy for her, and I'll be there to support."

There will be dancing, obviously, but as for more curated entertainment, Holland recently struck up a friendship with Benson Boone—who is free on that day, whenever it comes.

"Immediate yes, of course, of course," the "Slow It Down" singer told E! News at the 2025 American Music Awards in May when asked if he'd answer the call to perform for the happy couple. "I'm not gonna pass that over."

And, really, will the marriage even be legal if the newlyweds don't engage in a lip sync battle?

Surely the couple's wedding bands will complement Zendaya's engagement ring that, for all intents and purposes, appears to be the 5.02-carat East-West Cushion Diamond Button Back Ring from British jeweler Jessica McCormack. Per the jeweler's website, the bauble boasts a Georgian style cut-down setting in 18-karat white gold and yellow gold.

"He had purchased a ring," Tom's dad, comedian Dominic Holland, wrote in a January 2025 Patreon post, confirming a proposal had taken place. "He had spoken with her father and gained permission to propose to his daughter. Tom had everything planned out… When, where, how, what to say, what to wear…"

Zendaya and Tom could pretty much get married anywhere, but what's not to like about tying the knot in the groom's native England or thereabouts?

If you're looking to have a fairy-tale day, the United Kingdom has castles.

Or lack thereof.

As Zendaya put it to GQ in 2021, "I think loving someone is a sacred thing and a special thing and something that you want to deal with and go through and experience and enjoy amongst the two people that love each other."
