The New <em>Mayor of Kingstown</em> Trailer Looks Like the Best Season Yet

Mayor of Kingstown looks primed to unleash its best story yet. But why now? Four seasons into the Jeremy Renner-led prison drama, why is the series hitting such exciting new territory? I’ll let Edie Falco tell you why. “This is my castle now,” The Sopranos actor says as she introduces herself as the new warden in the season 4 trailer. “Do we understand each other?”

This is exactly the jolt that Mayor of Kingstown needs. Following season 3’s confusing Russian conspiracy plots and a horrific snowplow accident that almost ended Renner’s life, the Paramount+ series returns this fall with what seems like the perfect reset. And if season 4’s teaser is anything to work from, that means putting the focus back on the prisons. You can watch the new trailer below.

Created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon in 2021, Mayor of Kingstown follows Mike McLusky (Renner), a middleman who brokers deals between Kingstown’s prison warden, the inmates, and the gangs on the outside looking to protect their own on the inside. After straying a bit from the show’s original premise to deal with threats from the Russians, season 4 looks to set the story back on track.

Falco joins Kingstown as the new warden in season 4, which sets her character up as the perfect foil for Renner’s unofficial town fixer. "You’re an ex-con who ran this place for years,” she tells him. "An ocean of blood in your wake. And now? Now, you can’t do that."

The new season kicks off on Paramount+ starting on October 26. Mayor of Kingstown slots into a very Sheridan-heavy fall alongside Tulsa King season 3 in September, Landman season 2 in November, and hopefully some news about the Yellowstone sequel spin-off sometime before the end of the year. Until then, I'm just dying to see Falco go toe-to-toe with the Mayor.
