The New & Other Stories Roksanda Collection Is Prime for Summer Sunsets

I am by no means a minimalist, but I am a creature of comfort. A younger me would have turned my nose at the idea of uniform dressing. But as I get ready in the mornings, I have quickly realized that I reach for some version of the same thing more days than not—and this was further confirmed when one of my colleagues said she channeled me whilst wearing an ensemble featuring a midi skirt and a T-shirt. (This also happened to be on a day when I was wearing...a midi skirt and a T-shirt.)
Why am I providing you with that small tidbit, you ask? To give you an idea of my headspace I took on the task of testing out & Other Stories’s collaboration with Roksanda. For those who aren’t familiar, the London-based brand is known for its vibrant hues, bold prints, and eye-catching shapes. A lesson in Roksanda is a lesson in color theory—and another in how to take up space—both literally and figuratively.

The collaboration makes Roksanda’s pieces more accessible to the fashion-loving set, with prices ranging from $49 for a pair of sculptural earrings to $549 for patent leather boots. Most pieces are priced under $300, with the exception of some standout pieces like a head-turning ruffled dress and classic blazer. As for the quality, it was undeniable the moment I got my hands on it—you can feel it in the weight of the satin for most of these pieces, as well as the cotton jacquard fabric for others. So, when you consider that—along with the longevity of these bold-yet-timeless pieces, this collection is well worth the investment.
I gravitated towards the Orange Ribbon Camisole Top and Voluminous Ruffle Midi Skirt almost immediately. Yes, it might have been a dressier ensemble for a Monday spent in a coffee shop, but boy, did I feel like the main character of my day. Plus, I love the silhouette of the top so much, I already know it’ll be one of the heroes of my going-out wardrobe. Even the skirt can be styled for everyday occasions when you pair it with a denim jacket and a classic T-shirt or button-down.

One of my more adventurous looks featured two satin pieces—the Cream and Purple Ribbon Camisole Top (my favorite silhouette, clearly) and the Color-Block Satin Midi Skirt—styled with the Freshwater Pearl Choker Necklace, which falls right in line with the collar necklace trend I’ve been seeing everywhere. I could easily have styled the skirt with its coordinating Color-Black Satin Blouse, as this collection features a handful of pieces designed to be worn with each other, but the color palette makes it easy to mix and match throughout the collection.

My third and final look from my trial run: the Collarless Blazer, the Knitted Tank Top, the Wide Press-Crease Trousers, and the Beaded Leather Mules. This is the look I’d most likely wear on a regular basis, given that it’s classic tailoring with a hint of color. I love just how high this waist goes—chic! I also have to give an honorable mention to the Voluminous Cotton Sun Hat, which is styled with the suit in the campaign. This oversized accessory was instantly the conversation starter when I first saw the collection in person. That said, I feel this hat belongs on someone like Zendaya, who I am not—so I’ve let it be a playful piece to sport for fun at home—and what is fashion if not fun?
Ultimately, I feel this collection is meant for summer weddings, soirées, and everything in between—even the office, which is where I wore it. Just think about how those rich, warm hues will look during summer’s golden hours—simply magical. Whether you have an event to attend and need something to wear as you sip champagne or you simply want to add a new color to your everyday wardrobe in the form of a T-shirt, I guarantee you’ll find something in this collection for you. I know I did.
