The Fall 2025 Shoe Trends We’re Buying Before They Sell Out

Don’t let the small stints of cooler air fool you—there’s still some summer left in the year. And while we’ll be staying firmly in our hot-weather staples until the temperatures stay consistently in the 70s, we’re also taking every opportunity to brush up our knowledge on the best fall 2025 shoe trends before the autumnal season is in full swing.
Yes, we may have gotten a head start on the biggest footwear moments for fall during the last fashion month—but if you’re in any way aware of the headspace fashion editors are in after that whirlwind of an event, you already know those reports feel more like a fever dream. Now, those dreams are becoming a reality. From cool sneakers and fall boots to classic heels, these are the best shoe trends to embrace right now.
Square Toe

It’s no secret that squared-off toes have been slowly but surely on the rise. Be it with stark angles or rounded corners, we took note of the styles from Alaïa, Victoria Beckham, and Stella McCartney, in particular.
Runway Sneakers

We’re always excited to see sneakers trending, but this latest crop is truly spectacular. From Adidas’s ballet sneaker to Dries Van Noten’s low-profile style, it’s no wonder trainers made appearances at Miu Miu, Lacoste, Coperni, and Cecilie Bahnsen.
Snake Prints

According to Chinese tradition, 2025 is the year of the snake, and according to the fall/winter 2025 runways, it’s also the year of snakeskin. From sculptural mules at Duran Lantnik to boots fit for a Bratz doll at Tod’s, all signs point to this print as the next big shoe trend. (Spoiler alert: It’s trending for bags, too.)
Peep Toe

Note here that it’s peep toe, not open toe. Although we have nothing against an open toe, the real runway trend at shows like Fendi and Ferragamo was a bit more discreet. Show off a small sliver of skin without revealing your full pedicure—or lack thereof.
Western Nods

Western inspiration featured prominently throughout the last several seasons, but this fall, the vibe is a bit more subtle. Instead of classic cowboy boots, think silver toe caps on a pair of Louis Vuittons, a snip toe from Hermès, or muted stitching from Schiaparelli.
Slouchy Boots

Gone are the days of skin-tight boot shafts that can fit nary a sock, let alone a pant leg. For Loewe, Balmain, and Louis Vuitton, this fall is the time to get slouchy.
High Ankle Straps

Move over Mary-Janes, there’s a new strap in town. From heavy hitters like Calvin Klein and Valentino to the queen of boho, Isabel Marant, many designers opted for straps that sit higher on the ankle for their fall collections.
