Teddi Mellencamp Responds to Fan Who Says Her Cancer Is Terminal
Teddi Mellencamp needs hope and positivity now more than ever.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum—who is currently battling tumors in her brain and lungs—had a heartbreaking response to a fan who said her stage 4 cancer diagnosis is likely a death sentence.
“This is so heartbreaking," the user wrote, which Teddi reshared in her Instagram Stories on April 3. "Typically, stage four cancer is terminal especially with metastasis. Praying that Teddi heals and is an outlier.”
And the 43-year-old was not too happy with the negative take on her chances of survival.
“These kind of comments make me really sad," Teddi—who is mom to kids Slate, 12, Cruz, 10 and Dove, 5, with estranged husband Edwin Arroyave—replied in her Instagram Stories. "I know people are trying to help but heart breaking for me to read. Of course I know the chances but I truly believe with my whole heart I will beat this and watch my kids graduate."
The Two Ts in a Pod podcast co-host (and daughter of music icon John Mellencamp) jokingly added that she'll be around for years to come to "vent on the pod and have everyone get mad at me" and to "annoy my siblings by reminding everyone I am the favorite."
Teddi does have one reason to celebrate as of late. The former Bravolebrity announced she completed radiation therapy to help shrink her tumors.
"Ringing the bell can signify a major phase of treatment," Teddi—who previously underwent emergency brain surgery in February—captioned an April 3 Instagram video of herself ringing a bell at the hospital. "Today was my last day of radiation. 5 more rounds of immunotherapy to go. Love you all for the kind messages."
She added in a separate video, "I’ve got my graduation papers. The good luck bell. Ring this bell three times well, it’s told to clearly say my treatment’s done, the course is run, and I am on my way."
As for what the future holds for Teddi, she recently told Us Weekly in an April 2 interview, "I find out for sure exactly where we stand on June 1. If you need to do another round, if there’s any other surgery, if it’s the end. It’s a hard pill to swallow."
However, the accountability coach hasn't stopped fighting and thinking of the day when she's finally cancer free.
"I want to try new things, travel more with the kids," she added, "keep building a life and doing the best that we can, and have fun together. That’s my goal."
