Netflix hidden gem with perfect Rotten Tomatoes score fans forgot existed

The Playlist Netflix trailer
Netflix fans are only just rediscovering a hidden gem that boasts a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score that they forgot existed.
The Playlist is a limited series described as a docudrama and tells a fictionalised story of the founding of music streaming company Spotify. It was influenced by the book Spotify Untold.
Comprised of six episodes, The Playlist focuses around the young Swedish tech entrepreneur, Daniel Ek, and his key partners who revolutionised a whole industry by offering free and legal streamed music around the world.
According to the synopsis, it is a story about how hard convictions, unrelenting will, access and big dreams can help small players challenge the status quo by evolving the way we can all listen to music.
While it was released on the streaming giant back in 2022, it seems many Netflix subscribers have forgotten about its existence. It is strange considering it boasts a 100% rating on website Rotten Tomatoes.
One critic claimed that the series even sets a new standard for its genre. They said: "The Playlist is near perfect. The mini-series sets the bar high for all biographical dramas to come after it. Particularly because it captures the ills of the tech industry, the joy, the fallout, and the many many people that all go into one success..."
Another reviewer, writing for The Guardian seemed to suggest it is worth binge watching just for the end. They penned: "One thing I won’t spoil is how the series ends. This is because it is incredibly, brain-breakingly weird, and anyone who sits through all six hours of The Playlist deserves to feel the same jolting discomfort that I did. "
Meanwhile, a different review, awarding five stars declared that the series "has no right to be this good." Before adding: "The Playlist is 2022's best drama. The scripts are sharp, pacey, funny and cleverly structured to provide each key player in the story with a voice. The performances are great without straying into bluster or scenery chewing, and there's a constant motion in the narrative that keeps you utterly captivated. Do not skip this one."
Fans who have stumbled across it on their Netflix libraries also recommend it highly. Many suggest that it is a limited series that can be binged in just one evening.

One, sharing their thoughts online posted: "Riveting enough to be a definite binge watch." Another agreed: "Really great series. Enjoyed it and binge watched it in one evening. I also like the idea of how they built the episodes logically to make the whole story."
Sharing a similar view, someone else commented: "The way they showed how the journey of each individual played into the plot was very impressive. A 10/10 absolute binge worthy."
While someone else stated: "Highly gripping and inspiring. True reflection of today's startup culture. Loved it!"
The Playlist is streaming on Netflix.
