Minka Kelly Makes Rare Comment on Boyfriend Dan Reynolds
Minka Kelly can't imagine anyone not liking Dan Reynolds.
The Friday Night Lights actress gave rare insight on her romance with the Imagine Dragons frontman, sharing that her boyfriend's guest appearance on her new Netflix series Ransom Canyon was a hit with the cast and crew.
"He came to visit and everyone, all the producers and writers, just naturally fell in love with him," Minka told People in an article published April 17. "It's easy to love Dan."
The actress, 44, and singer, 37, have been linked since 2022, but keep their life together private. However, when Minka was asked if Dan would like to make a cameo, the couple was all in.
"They just asked one day, 'Do you think he'd play this character?' And I just was like, 'Let me ask him,'" she said. "And he was such a good sport and down to play."
Josh Duhamel, Minka's costar in the series, shared that Dan acted alongside him in a scene and had been a welcome addition.
"He's a good dude," the actor, 52, told People. "He did a great job, he really did."
And when Minka said the singer was "surprisingly nervous," Josh jumped in, adding, "It's hard to walk into another environment," continuing, "It's a scary thing."
Josh shared that once the nerves subsided, Dan was a natural.
"He's an amazingly talented dude on many different fronts," he said. "It takes one or two or three, maybe a couple scenes, and all those nerves go away."
As for Dan—who recently stepped out with Minka in Los Angeles for a casual lunch together in February—he previously explained that his and Minka’s mutual interest in creativity bonded them after meeting through a friend shortly after his divorce from ex-wife Aja Volkman, with whom he shares kids Arrow, 12, Gia, 8, Coco, 8, and Valentine, 6.
Soon after, Dan let Minka listen to some of his new music, and she shared some excerpts from her memoir in return.
"She’s like, ‘Well, if you’re going to share your art, I can share something with you, but it’s very vulnerable for me,’" he told People in July 2024. "She was very scared for me to read the book because we hadn’t met, just as much as I was scared for her to hear a song that I’d written.”
