Michelle Pfeiffer Shares She’s a Grandmother

Michelle Pfeiffer Shares She’s a Grandmother
Former NFL Star Shaun Alexander and Wife Valerie Alexander Expecting Baby No. 14

Michelle Pfeiffer was a smooth rider into the newest phase of her life.

The Grease 2 actress, 67, revealed that she recently became a first-time grandmother, which has impacted how much of her schedule she is willing to devote toward her work.

“I don’t have time nor the desire to go that deep for that long and not be present,” Michelle said on the Sept. 29 episode of the SmartLess podcast. “I realize I have a finite amount of time left and—I might announce on this show—that I became a grandmother last year.”

While the three-time Oscar nominee—who shares kids Claudia, 32, and John, 31, with husband David E. Kelley—didn’t reveal which of her children welcomed a baby, she added, “I’ve been very quiet about it and it is heaven. It’s ridiculous.”

And although Michelle shared that she wasn’t expecting to become a grandparent last year, it’s a role she wants to fill more than any of her others.

“If I had known that I was going to be a grandmother, I wouldn’t have taken on so much work,” the Hairspray actress—who has four projects in the works, per IMDb—continued, “but I’ve enjoyed everything and I’m really grateful. I love each of these projects.”

Though the title of “grandma” might be new for Michelle, it’s not the first time her family life has impacted her work decisions. After all, she kept Claudia and John in mind when taking on new movies when they were younger.

"I'm an empty nester now," she told Interview in 2017. "I've never lost my love for acting. I feel really at home on the movie set. I'm a more balanced person, honestly, when I'm working. But I was pretty careful about where I shot and how long I was away, whether or not it worked out with the kids' schedule.”

In fact, Michelle admitted, “I got so picky that I was unhirable."
