Michaela Coel Falls Victim to Some Questionable Styling as British Vogue’s September 2025 Cover Girl

Michaela Coel Falls Victim to Some Questionable Styling as British Vogue’s September 2025 Cover Girl

Chioma Nnadi is arguably the worst thing to ever happen to British Vogue. After all, the magazine is a shadow of its former self and covers just do not hit like they once used to (when Edward Enninful was at the helm). Nevertheless, A-list talent from the world of fashion and beyond still don’t mind gracing the cover of the magazine. Over recent months, names like Doechii, Dua Lipa, Bella Hadid, Billie Eilish, Bella Ramsey, Tyla, and Renée Zellweger have become cover stars. Nnadi now welcomes Michaela Coel onto the cover of British Vogue, who graces the September 2025 edition of the magazine. The celebrated British actress and writer makes her British Vogue debut via the lens of photographer Harley Weir, complete with Nell Kalonji reporting for styling duties. In the eye-catching and engaging cover photograph, Coel gazes down Weir’s lens and serves face while dressed in a hooded creation from the Alaïa Fall 2025 collection of Pieter Mulier,

“Michaela deserves better than the condom dress and this flat iPhone photo,” immediately called out an unimpressed Melancholybaby.

Avonlea echoed: “They really thought they did something with that Alaïa condom dress!”

“I like the choice of person, but it’s a bit like what pets wear when they come back from the vet,” remarked forum member tigerrouge.

“Awful. Hideous cover. A total waste of Michaela Coel. Not at all surprised to see something so underwhelming and eventful coming from British Vogue. Chioma Nnadi has zilch to say as a head of editorial content. No sense of style, no voice… no nothing. None of her covers make a statement or even attempt to break new ground. This magazine is a shadow of its former self,” ranted vogue28.

Also very much disappointed was Hchloe. “I hate this. It’s giving Allure, not Vogue,” they pointed out.

“This should have been a homerun. Michaela Coel has one of the most striking faces. But the cover feels a bit lackluster,” echoed KoV.
