Inside Hailey Bieber and Justin Bieber's First Year With Baby Jack

Hailey Bieber and Justin Bieber have been dealing with split rumors for almost the entirety of their nearly seven-year marriage.
And welcoming son Jack Blues Bieber to the mix on Aug. 22, 2024, did little to quell such speculation.
"Being postpartum is the most sensitive time I’ve ever gone through in my life, and learning a new version of myself is very difficult,” Hailey, 28, told Vogue in March. “And to be doing that all the while going on the internet every day and people being like, They’re getting divorced and They’re this and They’re not happy: It is such a mindf--k. I cannot even begin to explain it. It’s a crazy life to live.”
But having the now-12-month-old son she and Justin both wanted so badly—“I’m walking in the days I always dreamed of," he told the publication—has certainly helped put things into perspective.
“He’s my priority," Hailey said of Jack, whose name derives from Justin's father, Jeremy Jack Bieber. "He is the most important thing to me."
Suffice it to say, the same-old scrutiny hasn't made Hailey particularly inclined to share much about Jack on social media, including what his whole face looks like, making the rare photo posted by her or Justin a viral event.
Nor do they even "take him to a lot of places," she told Vogue. "We don’t want anyone to... I mean, you’ve just got to see how invasive it all is. It feels mean to put a baby into that."
Jack has since acquired a professional footprint, however, making his on-camera debut with his mom and dad in the August music video for "Yukon," off of Justin's seventh studio album, Swag—a surprise July drop that debuted hours after he announced its impending release.
Hailey hasn't been quiet on the career front this year, either, selling her company Rhode Skin to e.l.f. Beauty in a deal worth $1 billion.
And the first person she thanked while accepting the Beauty Innovator Award at The Daily Front Row's 9th Annual Fashion Los Angeles Awards in April was her husband, "for supporting this dream of mine from the beginning and for always cheering me on."
Hailey has also credited her Canadian-born husband's hard-fought experience dealing with internet trolls for her increasing acceptance of the unfortunate aspects of fame she cannot change.
"He's been doing this literally since he was a child," she explained, "and he has had to face the most scrutiny of any person that I know. He was like, ‘Baby, trust me, I’ve been here before many, many times. You’re not going to win. There is no winning.'"
Glut of erroneous information out there aside, Justin was admittedly working through some stuff during his first year of fatherhood.
Time after time he and Hailey put rumors of their impending divorce to bed, but the 31-year-old was also leaning into his faith and funneling his feelings into Swag, his first album in four years.
“Baby, I ain’t walking away/ You were my diamond," he sang on the track "Walking Away." "Gave you a ring I made you a promise /I told you I’d change/ It’s just human nature/ These growing pains/ And baby, I ain’t walking away."
Hailey, meanwhile, works out her frustrations in therapy—"If I can just speak it out loud and process it," she said, "I usually can get there on my own"—and is ultra mindful of her health after experiencing postpartum hemorrhaging and subsequent bouts of depression and body dysmorphia.
"Every day I have to talk to myself, like, 'Hailey, you had a baby,'" she told Vogue. “You grew a human. You birthed a human. It’s okay. Give yourself grace. Give yourself time."
But when she's not working (she's still Chief Creative Officer and Head of Innovation at Rhode), exercising, out with friends or having date night with Justin, she loves being home, where she's ushering Jack into his solid food era and testing out recipes he can enjoy when he's a bit older.
And when Hailey is out, "Well you're just thinking about such different things now," she told comedian Hannah Berner at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in March, per Hello. "I'm going to be inside checking my baby monitor non-stop."
Jack has been her "biggest teacher" in life so far, she told Vogue. “The biggest teacher in my relationship. You see your partner so differently.” Moreover, added the younger daughter of Stephen Baldwin and Kennya Deodato, who have been married for 35 years, "I think you empathize with your parents a lot more."
At the end of the day, Hailey said, "I have a real life. My real life is that I get to wake up to my beautiful family and my son and my friends and I have people that know me and love me and I love them.”
