Good Morning Britain star makes sad 'breaking news' announcement minutes into show

Tuesday's instalment of Good Morning Britain was interrupted with a breaking news announcement following a tragic incident in Australia.

Minutes into the ITV show, newsreader Marverine Cole shared news of a shooting in the town of Porepunkah, which had resulted in two police officers being killed.

" Some breaking news now. Two police officers are reported to have been killed in a shooting in Australia, according to broadcasters there," Marverine sadly told GMB viewers.

She went on to add: "The shooter is still believed to be on the run in Victoria. We'll bring you more on this news throughout the morning."
