Does John Wick Spin-Off Ballerina Have a Post-Credits Scene?

Does John Wick Spin-Off Ballerina Have a Post-Credits Scene?
preview for Ballerina - Official Trailer (Lionsgate)

This story contains spoilers for From the World of John Wick: Ballerina.

You can check out of The Continental, you can never leave. The world of Keanu Reeves's master assassin John Wick returns with From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, the first theatrical spin-off in the series. But how big is the world of John Wick anymore? Might Ballerina contain a surprise or two that hints at a wider future ahead? Being a franchise movie, of course, Ballerina begs the question: Does it have a post-credits scene?

In Ballerina, the spotlight shines on Eve, a fresh-faced rookie assassin (played by Ana de Armas) who comes from the same house of assassins that trained a young John Wick. Taking place during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum, Ballerina sees Eve embark on her own path to revenge to hunt down the man who killed her father.

Those who've missed John Wick since his monumental death at the end of John Wick: Chapter 4 won't have to wait too long to see him again. Reeves reprises his beloved killer for a prominent supporting role in Ballerina. Never mind how his appearance muddies up his timeline—we get to see Wick kick ass one last time. (Again.)

So, does Ballerina have a post-credits scene? The answer is below.

Does Ballerina Have a Post-Credits Scene?

It might surprise you to learn that, no, Ballerina does not have a post-credits scene. While Ballerina expands the world of John Wick to feel bigger than ever, the movie contains all of its story and blood-soaked action within its proper runtime. There are no additional teasers for potential sequels and spin-offs.

That's not to say the saga of John Wick ends here. There are a handful of projects in development under the John Wick umbrella, including, somehow, a fifth movie in the mainline John Wick series. Yes, John Wick is dead, but that won't stop Lionsgate from digging up his corpse for one more round.

Ana de Armas stars in Ballerina, the first big-screen spin-off of the John Wick series.

Lionsgate announced John Wick: Chapter 5 in April 2025 at CinemaCon, with eeves confirmed to return. In an October 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, director Chad Stahelski said that the fifth movie "would not be part of" the story of Chapter 4. In a more recent interview dated June 5 for THR, Stahelski said that Chapter 5 is still in the early days of pre-production, with the team—including Stahelski and Reeves—still trying to agree on a story.

"If we go down the road of John Wick 5 and build this story and decide this isn’t right, there are probably going to be ten other things we’ll discover that we’ll use for other things," Stahelski told THR. "It’s a great creative exercise. It’s being in the room riffing with people we love. That’s nothing but wins."

When asked by THR if John Wick: Chapter 5 is actually happening, Stahelski said: "The studio would very much will it into existence, I’m sure, at some point. Look, they’ve been great and they’ve asked us to really try and we have a really good couple of ideas and we’re going to try."

As for the other in-development John Wick spin-offs, there is a prequel anime in development, as well as a spin-off starring Donnie Yen, who will return as his fan-favorite rival assassin Caine from John Wick: Chapter 4. Stahelski confirmed that Keanu Reeves will not appear as John Wick in the Caine spin-off. "The Donny Yen spin-off doesn’t have the John Wick character. It’s got Donny Yen and it’s an ode to kung fu movies," he said. "If John Wick 1 was about Charles Bronson and Lee Marvin, this is about Chow Yun-fat, John Woo and Wong Kar-wai. So I think that one is a little easier to get it across to audiences because it’s in a sub-genre of what we love."

John Wick, the franchise, is certainly in a pickle. While Chapter 4 ended beautifully with the death of John Wick, the demands of a modern-day, moneymaking franchise means there will be some backdoor way for Keanu Reeves to suit up once again. Ballerina figured it out. Who knows what's next? But if there's anything audiences know about John Wick, it's that he always finds a way.
