5 key points to remember from The Handmaid's Tale after 3 year break

The Handmaid's Tale has captivated viewers worldwide since its release in 2017. Now, after eight years it is finally coming to an end.
The sixth series synopsis teases: "June's unyielding spirit and and determination pull her back into the fight to take down Gilead. Luke and Moira join the resistance. Serena tries to reform Gilead while Commander Lawrence and Aunt Lydia reckon with what they have wrought, and Nick faces challenging tests of character. This final chapter of June's journey highlights the importance of hope, courage, solidarity, and resilience in the pursuit of justice and freedom."
A teaser for the final season also suggested June wasn't going down without a fight. She is seen gathering an army of handmaids who are pictured passing out razors and box cutters as weapons. Can June finally get Hannah out of Gilead and reunite her family?

Ahead of its return on April 8, here are five key points to remember.
June killed Commander Fred Waterford along with other handmaids in the season four finale and series five saw the fall out of his death. June waited to see if she would face the consequences of his murder - thankfully, she was allowed to stay in Canada as a refugee as Fred's death took place in No Man's Land. But Serena Joy used Fred's death to her advantage. She had his funeral broadcast around the world for all to see and put June's daughter Hannah front and centre.
In a horrifying moment for June and Luke, they saw Hannah more grown up and dressed all in purple. When Luke asked what the colour meant, June admitted she didn't know. Things turned even more desperate when Nick revealed to June it symbolises Hannah is at a new school and training to be a future wife. June and Luke tried to rescue Hannah but their attempt failed and they ended up captured.

Serena Joy was sent back to Gilead after Fred's death despite wanting to start a new life with her baby in Canada. The Commanders of Gilead agreed she could become a 'Global Ambassador' for the country. When June was caught in No Man's Land trying to rescue Hannah, Commander Wheeler told Serena, who begged to be the one to kill her.
As Serena came face to face with June, she had the chance to shoot her but instead turned the gun on their driver. The pair fled but when Serena went into labour, June helped her give birth in a barn. Serena later realised she needed to leave Gilead and seek a new life with her baby.
Canada is tired of housing and helping refugees from Gilead and Commander Lawrence is prepared to welcome them back. He announced New Bethlehem, which is a community for refugees to return to Gilead but with fewer rules. It would also allow those who still have family in Gilead to be reunited. June was offered the chance to return by Commander Lawrence, who tries to entice her with the chance to reunite with Hannah.

In the seres finale, June was run over by a Gilead supporter in a truck. Furious to see his wife targeted, Luke attacked the man in the truck and beat him to death. With Luke facing arrest for murder, he and June decided to leave Canada and return to the remaining two American states. But before they could board the train, Luke was arrested meaning June had to take baby Nicole alone. The finale ended with June on a train heading to California before realising Serena Joy was in the same carriage.
The Handmaid's Tale season 6 airs April 8.
