What will the weather be like this Easter in Spain?
As most of the country has experienced almost a month of rain in March, some areas with storms and even severe flooding, most questions this year will be about the weather.
As Easter is still a couple of weeks away though, it’s difficult to tell exactly what it’s going to be like.
Even so, Spain's State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) and other weather experts have already released their official forecasts for the week saying that "Precipitation is frequent during this time of year”.
Mar Gómez, a meteorologist at eltiempo.es, believes that April will begin with "pretty normal" rainfall, except in the Cantabrian Sea and the Canary Islands, where "it could rain a little more than normal."
"For Holy Week this year, we expect slightly above normal rainfall in the far north of the peninsula," she explains.
Regarding temperatures, "we would also remain within normal ranges," except in the Canary and Balearic Islands, where "they could be above average”, she added.
When looking at AEMET’s historical report for the weather around Easter between 1981 and 2024, it shows that daytime temperatures typically fluctuate between 13C and 17C and that “the most prevalent meteorological phenomenon has been rain”.
Meteorologists believe this Easter could be similar to last year, which was characterised “predominantly by cloudy days".
