FDA issues urgent warning: Don't eat popular COOKIE brand after customers report rancid taste

A popular cookie brand has recalled one of its products after consumers complained the sweet treats had a 'rancid taste'.
Legally Addictive Foods, which is based out of North Carolina, has pulled certain batches of its 'OG' flavor from the shelves due to the unappetizing reaction.
An unknown quantity of packages have been impacted by the flavoring mishap.
The company's OG flavor contains a blend of chocolate, crackers, sea salt, brown sugar, butter, sea salt and vanilla extract.
They also have milk in them, which could be behind the unsavory taste if it has spoiled.
However, the FDA has not revealed what was behind the foul taste.
The government agency describes the term rancid as when 'a product has a disagreeable odor or taste of decomposed oils or fat'.
It adds: 'For example, rancid nuts frequently are soft, with a yellow, dark, or oily appearance, a bitter taste and a stale odor.'

On the Legally Addictive website, it states that the cookies should taste 'salty, sweet, chocolatey and crunchy' and the 'combination never fails'.
'[It's] one of the best tastes known to mankind,' it adds.
The affected product - both in 4.7oz and 1.3oz formats - has the unique product codes 854766008028 and 854766028004.
The packages also have the best-by dates of December 24, 2024, and May 6, 2025, with lot number 122424.
According to the FDA, the cookies were distributed to retailers across Pennsylvania and Illinois.
The FDA has categorized the recall as a Class II, describing it as 'a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.'
Consumers are advised not to eat the affected cookies and to return them to the place of purchase or discard them.
Customers can also report an adverse event or problem with an FDA-regulated product to a consumer complaint coordinator.
No other products in the Legally Addictive food range have been impacted.
The company's other flavor offerings include Mexican hot chocolate, chai masala and churros.
