Endorphin levels skyrocket! 'Donating blood on an empty stomach is not recommended'

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Melda Özdamar listed the points donors should pay attention to before donating blood:
1- Blood donation should not be done on an empty stomach. A few hours before the procedure, a light, balanced meal should be consumed, especially iron-rich foods like red meat , spinach, and legumes. High-fat foods like fast food and fried foods should be avoided, as high blood fat levels can make the donated blood more difficult to process.
2-If the body's fluid balance is good, blood collection will be easier and complaints such as dizziness will decrease, so drink plenty of water in the 24 hours before donation.
3-Since insomnia can increase the risk of low blood pressure and fainting, care should be taken to sleep at least 6-8 hours the night before blood donation.
4. Alcohol consumption should be stopped at least 24 hours before the procedure. Highly caffeinated beverages such as tea, coffee , and energy drinks should also be limited, as they increase water loss and can lead to dehydration.
