The Regulation on the Council on Demographic and Family Policy has been approved

The Council's tasks, according to the decree of the head of state, include, among other things, ensuring an increase in the birth rate and life expectancy, assessing the effectiveness of programs and projects aimed at strengthening the institution of the family, increasing the prestige of having many children, preserving and promoting traditional family values, preparing proposals for the president in the relevant area, and exercising public control over the implementation of events carried out under the "Decade of Childhood" program.
The body is headed by the Chairperson of the Federation Council (SF) Valentina Matviyenko, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova acts as Deputy Chairperson, and the Head of the SF Committee on Science, Education and Culture Lilia Gumerova has been appointed as the Executive Secretary.
The Council includes the chief freelance specialist of the Ministry of Health for women's reproductive health Natalia Dolgushina, director of the University Clinic of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov Armais Kamalov, president of PJSC Sberbank of Russia German Gref, deputy mayor of Moscow Anastasia Rakova, chairman of Delovaya Rossiya LLC Alexey Repik, deputy chairperson of the Federation Council Inna Svyatenko and others.
In November 2024, the Ministry of Labor of the Russian Federation presented a draft Strategy of Action for the implementation of family and demographic policy, support for large families in Russia. It is planned that it will be in effect until 2036. Among the key objectives of the strategy is the formation of a system of motivation for citizens of all ages to lead a healthy lifestyle and the creation of conditions for timely disease prevention, as well as the protection of maternal and child health.
The national project "Demography" had similar goals. In 2025, it was replaced by the national project "Family", which includes the federal project "Protection of Motherhood and Childhood".
