Chewing gum, tea with lemon and earplugs can help with ear congestion on a plane, said Anastasia Lozikova, a general practitioner at the Krasnogorsk hospital.

In a conversation with RIA Novosti, she noted that the feeling of congestion in the ears is familiar to many, and it appears during takeoff and landing of an airplane, when the ears begin to become blocked.

Lozikova noted that some people experience discomfort, while others even experience pain.

According to her, there are several ways to help yourself and your loved ones. First, it is enough to chew something, for example, chewing gum. Second, you can drink tea with lemon or warm water with added citrus fruits - this will start the work of the throat muscles.

The doctor noted that if you have nasal congestion or suspected sinusitis, you should use nasal drops at least 30 minutes before boarding. This will reduce the load on the auditory tubes and reduce pressure on the ears, the therapist added.
