Arana and Lyanco reveal that they were approached to leave Atlético-MG

Arana and Lyanco reveal that they were approached to leave Atlético-MG

Since arriving at Atlético, Lyanco and Guilherme Arana have built careers marked by consistency and a strong connection with the club. Both are starters in Cuca's squad and have long-term contracts—the defender until the end of 2028 and the full-back until December 2027.

Currently, both players are attracting interest in the transfer market and have been approached by other teams. Still, they maintain their commitment to Atlético and remain focused on the rest of the season. The statements were made after the Minas Gerais team defeated Flamengo on penalties in the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil, in a match played at Arena MRV on Wednesday (August 6).

A product of São Paulo's youth academy and with experience at European clubs, Lyanco joined Atlético in July 2024 after negotiations with Southampton. At 28, he has made 56 appearances for the club and has established himself as one of the team's key defensive players.

Arana, meanwhile, arrived at the club in January 2020 from Sevilla. Also 28 years old, he has made 243 appearances for Galo and won nine titles during that time. According to the full-back, his identification with the club is a determining factor in his continued presence at the Minas Gerais club, despite the market pressure.

During an interview in the mixed zone, Lyanco addressed the possibility of a transfer in a natural way, highlighting the good moment he is experiencing at the club.

"When you're in a really good moment, things happen, things come up, you get phone calls, that sort of thing. It's football, and that happens. But I made it clear to them and to everyone else, those who live with me too, those who are in my daily life know how happy I am here, I think that's been answered."

Arana, in turn, preferred to minimize the issue, claiming to be unaware of further details about the polls.

"These are inquiries, I personally don't know anything. I have contracts with Atlético, a club I identify with, that I really like, and I get along well with everyone. While I'm here, I'll honor Atlético's colors, and as I said, these are inquiries, I don't know anything."

Atlético returns to action on Sunday (August 10) at 4 p.m. (Brasília time) against Vasco da Gama at São Januário Stadium in the 19th round of the Brazilian Championship. With 23 points from 16 games, the club sits in tenth place. The Rio de Janeiro team, their current opponent, is now in the relegation zone with 15 points.
