All About Georgina Rodríguez’s Gigantic Oval Diamond Engagement Ring From Cristiano Ronaldo

- Rodríguez’s ring continues the broader elongated diamond engagement ring trend that other celebs like Hailey Bieber, Zendaya, and Selena Gomez have helped popularize.
Cristiano Ronaldo recently proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Georgina Rodríguez, with arguably one of the most extravagant celebrity engagement rings of all time. Rodríguez received a massive oval center diamond cushioned between two complementary oval side stones, which she shared on Instagram.
The piece is worth millions of dollars, multiple jewelers tell ELLE. Here, everything to know about it.
There’s no mistaking the focal point of Rodríguez’s oval engagement ring: its large center stone. “I’d estimate the carat weight of the center diamond to be 30 to 35 carats,” Lauren Boc, founder and CEO of Hera Fine Jewelry, tells ELLE.
Ann Grimmett, vice president of merchandising at Jared Jewelers, has a slightly higher estimate: “The ring looks to be a beautiful 30- to 40-carat oval with 1-carat oval side stones.”
Steph Mazuera, who founded her own namesake brand that creates made-to-order engagement rings, agrees with Grimmett’s 30- to 40-carat range.
Boc noted that Rodríguez’s ring appears to have double-claw prongs—a wise design choice given the heavy center stone.
“The double-claw prongs are a good choice to keep such a large diamond secure—the more metal, the better!” she explains. “I’m guessing the ring was hand-forged by a very skilled artisan, which would mean the prongs are denser and therefore stronger at this size than the average wax-cast ring.” While it isn’t clear from the photo Rodríguez shared, Boc believes the ring has a platinum setting “because platinum is the strongest metal to support such a large diamond.”
Mazuera adds, “While it’s difficult to see every detail of Georgina’s ring, a diamond of this magnitude requires precise engineering. The platinum setting was likely hand-forged for maximum strength, with cathedral shoulders, a substantial shank, and a reinforced base. A ring like this should not only be designed for the security of the stone but also to balance weight on the finger, you need significant metal to offset a diamond of this scale.”
Grimmett praised its thoughtful design, saying, “The setting is bold, which creates more security for the large center stone and side stones.”
A diamond like Rodríguez’s doesn’t come cheap. Grimmett, Mazuera, and Boc all estimate the value of Rodríguez’s ring to be in the multi-millions.
“Especially at this size, the value of the diamond will depend dramatically on its color, clarity, and cut quality,” Boc says. “High-quality diamonds of this size are exceptionally rare, and the higher the quality, the more rare they are. It’s tough to assess the quality from the image we have, so I’ll give a broad range of $3 to $5 million.”
Mazuera agrees, saying, “It’s safe to say it’s worth several million dollars.”
Grimmett has a higher guess: “This ring could cost anywhere from $5 to $15 million, depending on the clarity rating of the stones.”

Rodríguez and Ronaldo paired her oval center stone with additional oval side stones—an uncommon choice, Boc explains: “A three-stone oval engagement ring is a little unusual—more often, at least at Hera, people pair an oval center stone with smaller round diamonds or baguettes.”
Still, the side stones are spectacular, Mazuera says: “The size and scale of this ring is extraordinary, just one of the side stones on their own would make a fabulous—and still larger than average—engagement ring. This ring feels very opulent, Old Hollywood, the kind of ring you’d expect on iconic women like Elizabeth Taylor or someone from the royal family.”
Like Lauren Sánchez Bezos, who also has a 30-carat engagement ring, Rodríguez may save her sparkler for special occasions rather than daily wear.
Boc attributes this to the side stone placement: “It looks like the side ovals are sitting right between her fingers, which would mean she isn’t able to close her fingers together or make a fist while wearing it. We always design our rings at Hera to avoid stones sitting between the fingers because it isn’t very practical or comfortable for daily wear, but I’m guessing it just wasn’t possible with such a large center diamond. She very well may plan to wear this only for special occasions anyway—it’s so huge!”
What do Rodríguez, Selena Gomez, Zendaya, and Hailey Bieber all have in common? They opted for engagement rings with elongated center stones. Grimmett says that Rodríguez’s ring continues that bridal jewelry trend: “The center stone, which appears to be a high-color diamond, creates a gorgeous spread on her finger and is on the trend of elongated fancies.”
Boc calls out Rodríguez’s oval shape in particular, noting how sought-after it is among her customers: “At Hera, ovals have been our bestselling shape since we opened, so Georgina’s choice is right in line with what’s most popular with our clients.”
