Up to 2 liters of liquids in carry-on luggage. This will be possible at select airports.

The European Union has made a decision that passengers across Europe have been waiting for months. From now on, bottles up to two liters will be allowed in carry-on luggage at airports equipped with CT scanners – so you can take olive oil and a bottle of wine purchased at a local market, not just in duty-free, into your suitcase. "The European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) has approved an updated solution for explosives detection that will ultimately allow the 100ml rule to be lifted where possible," writes Rynek Lotniczy.
Flying without small bottlesIt seems that pouring shampoos and perfumes into 100ml bottles is a thing of the past. After a year, the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) finally approved the Hi-Scan 6040 CTiX CT scanners, which can accurately check the contents of larger liquids, crucial for the rapid and effective detection of explosives.
For now, the change only applies to scanners from Smiths Detection, but the list of certified devices may soon expand. Hi-Scan 6040 CTiX CT scanners are present at many airports in Europe. Now, airport operators have time to implement the new regulations. Airports in Italy, among others, have already issued declarations. "Under the new regulations, liquids, aerosols, and gels in containers up to 2 liters can once again be carried in hand luggage at Linate and Malpensa airports," we read.
Airports in Poland with CT scannersThe small airport in Lublin already has modern scanners. Chopin Airport in Warsaw is expected to implement a similar solution by the end of 2025. Airports in Krakow and Katowice have also announced similar plans in the past.
Scanners have already been implemented in countries such as Germany, Lithuania, Malta, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Their presence not only provides greater flexibility in passenger baggage transport but also improves security and reduces the likelihood of queues.
