This hotel is over 1,300 years old. It is the oldest in the world.

Japan's Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan is an extraordinary hotel. Located at the foot of the Akaishi Mountains, the facility has been welcoming guests for thirteen centuries, making it the oldest in the world. The most important and must-see attraction is bathing in the hot springs – it was their discovery that led to the construction of a ryokan, a traditional Japanese inn, here in 705 AD. Its popularity increased after 2011, when it was included in the Guinness Book of Records.
The oldest hotel in the world is located in JapanNovember weather is perfect for traveling to places where the spirit of the past is palpable. It's hard to find a place where you can feel it more than in the world's oldest hotel. Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan is located in Yamanashi Prefecture, in the southern part of Japan's largest island, Honshu. "Legend has it that in 705, the eldest son of Fujiwara no Kamatari, the most powerful aristocratic family of the time, was traveling from the capital and discovered hot springs in the area," writes CNN. A traditional ryokan was built nearby and soon began accepting guests.
1,300 years of traditionDespite its long history, few tourists were aware of the hotel's rich history. That all changed in 2011, when an entry was made into the Guinness Book of Records, and Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan could officially present itself as the world's oldest hotel.
According to CNN, standard rooms at the Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan Hotel consist of three sections: two lounges and one living room. Traditional Japanese kakejiku scrolls depicting nature hang on the walls. Large, airy windows overlooking greenery and indoor plants facilitate a connection with nature. There are six hot springs on site – four outdoor and two indoor (these are available by reservation only).
Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan is a four-star facility, and prices start from around 1,500 PLN per night for a double room.
