The railway will return to the former spa town. There have been no trains for almost 30 years.

In four years, the first passenger train in nearly thirty years will depart from Jastrzębie-Zdrój. Until now, the former health resort was the largest city in Poland without any carriers stopping there. "We are determined to extend the railway to Jastrzębie-Zdrój and ensure a fast connection to Pawłowice, Żory, and further on towards Katowice," says Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Piotr Malepszak. The project is scheduled for completion in 2029.
The railway returns to Jastrzębie-ZdrójIn 2029, we'll be able to reach Katowice from Jastrzębie-Zdrój in 50 minutes. Until now, residents of this Upper Silesian town had to travel by bus to Pszczyna and then transfer to a train, which sometimes took over two hours. This is because passenger services to Wodzisław Śląski were suspended in 1997, leaving Jastrzębie-Zdrój the largest city in Poland without any train stops.
"The return of the railway to Jastrzębie-Zdrój is a real opportunity to keep people in the city. Many people working in Katowice or other parts of the metropolitan area are currently looking for a place to live closer to work," says Michał Urgoł, mayor of Jastrzębie-Zdrój. According to the project, which is scheduled for completion in four years, three stops will be built in the city: near the Górne-Dolne housing estate, on Graniczna Street near Szkolna Street, and in the Bzie village.
In the footsteps of an old health resortUntil the 1990s, Jastrzębie-Zdrój was a valued health resort, but the discovery of hard coal deposits transformed the town into an industrial center. In 1994, the spa facilities were closed, and in 2007, the town completely lost its status. However, traces of its former glory can still be found here. Places like the Spa Park and House, the Łucja Villa, and the Bracka Company Sanatorium remind tourists of Jastrzębie-Zdrój's ancient history and make an excellent thematic tour route.
