Dua Lipa Becomes a Citizen of Kosovo. "I Love This Country"

The singer, known for her hits "Levitating" and "Houdini," received her Kosovo citizenship from Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani. Dua Lipa expressed her emotion. "I love this country, and it means so much to me and my family," the singer said in an official statement.

Dua Lipa was born in London to Kosovo Albanian parents originally from Pristina. Her parents came to England in the 1990s, like many Kosovo Albanians at the time, due to repression. At the age of 13, she moved to Pristina with her parents after Kosovo declared independence . After nearly two years there, she persuaded her parents to return to London so she could pursue her musical career.

Dua Lipa recently visited Kosovo again. From Friday to Sunday , the Sunny Hill Festival , a music festival she organizes, took place in Pristina. During this time, she also received the special honor of being officially recognized as a citizen of Kosovo. During Friday's ceremony, Dua Lipa received documents confirming her citizenship from the country's president, Vjosa Osmani.

"Dua and Kosovo have always been inseparable. From the world's biggest stages to the hearts of millions, she carried our story with strength, pride, and grace. Our gratitude for everything Dua has done and continues to do for Kosovo is endless," Osmani said, calling the artist "one of the most iconic cultural figures in the history of our country."

The singer did not hide her emotion at this fact, receiving the citizenship granted to her with pride and gratitude .

"I feel like two parts of me have become one. I love this country and it means so much to me and my family," Dua Lipa said in an official statement.

In addition to receiving Kosovo citizenship this year, Dua Lipa also holds British citizenship and Albanian citizenship, which was granted to her in 2022.
