Kabaret Hrabi revealed what will happen to the group's activities after the death of Joanna Kołaczkowska

Kabaret Hrabi revealed what will happen to the group's activities after the death of Joanna Kołaczkowska

Following the death of Joanna Kołaczkowska, a pillar of the Hrabi cabaret, it was unclear whether the group would continue its stage activities. A few days after the artist's funeral, Hrabi members suggested the group would continue.

The members of the Hrabi cabaret wrote about its future in a letter to the late Joanna Kołaczkowska.

"You were worried about us. What will we do without you? So... we'll improvise. Wander a little. Be a little quieter. Sometimes too early, sometimes too late. But we'll make it—because your voice echoes in our heads. And we remember that twinkle in your eyes that said, 'It makes sense,'" reads an excerpt from a post posted on Hrabi's Facebook profile.

The satirists then turn to their friend with a request.

"And you? If you can, be our coach and prompter from above. Prompt us. Correct us, praise us... as needed. And laugh with us—even if you're already in a different corner. Your Counts," we read.

In the post, the Hrabi cabaret also thanked those who accompanied the artist in the final months of her life and provided care for her. They wrote:

It's been three days since we said goodbye to Asia. The emotions have subsided somewhat. The tears have dried—at least for a moment. We take advantage of this brief moment of silence to express our gratitude.

They mentioned the staff of several hospitals and the home hospice, as well as her friends, including Artur Andrus, Szymon Majewski, and Marzena Rogalska. They also thanked those involved in organizing the actress's funeral.

Joanna Kołaczkowska was laid to rest on Monday, July 28, at the Powązki Military Cemetery in Warsaw. Her grave is located on the Avenue of Merit, next to those of Stanisław Tym, who was her friend and mentor.

She died on the night of July 16th at the age of 59. Her death was announced on social media by members of Hrabi. "She fought bravely, with dignity, with hope. We fought with her. Unfortunately, we exhausted all available forms of treatment. We believed in a miracle. A miracle did not happen," they added. They noted that Kołaczkowska "passed away peacefully, without pain. Surrounded by loved ones and friends – among those she loved and who loved her immensely." In April, Hrabi announced that Kołaczkowska was battling cancer.

Hrabi has been active since 2002. It was founded in Zielona Góra on the initiative of Dariusz Kamys and Kołaczkowska, both of whom originated from the Potem cabaret. In addition to Kamys, Hrabi is currently co-founded by Łukasz Pietsch and Tomasz Majer.
