Starting October 1st, rates for accommodation and meals at the National Health Fund (NFZ) spa will change. Starting next season, rates will be much lower – patients can pay as little as 222 PLN for a 21-day stay. The fall and winter months are significantly less popular, so those interested won't have to wait long for a spot.
A patient staying at a National Health Fund (NFZ) health resort is responsible only for accommodation and meals. The fee for a patient's stay depends on the room standard – fees are not discretionary, but strictly defined by the Minister of Health.
Partial payment for food and accommodation costs per day of stay is from October 1, 2024 to April 30, 2025:
- single room with full hygiene and sanitary facilities - PLN 32.6 (PLN 684.6 for 21 days);
- single room in a studio PLN 26.1 (PLN 548.1 for 21 days);
- single room without full hygiene and sanitary facilities - PLN 24.9 (PLN 522.9 for 21 days);
- double room with full hygiene and sanitary facilities - PLN 19.50 (PLN 409.50 for 21 days);
- double room in a studio - PLN 16.50 (PLN 346.50 for 21 days);
- double room without full hygiene and sanitary facilities - PLN 14.2 (PLN 298.2 for 21 days);
- multi-person room with full hygiene and sanitary facilities - PLN 12.5 (PLN 262.5 for 21 days);
- multi-person room in a studio - PLN 11.9 (PLN 249.9 for 21 days);
- multi-person room without full hygiene and sanitary facilities - PLN 10.6 (PLN 222.6 for 21 days).
It is worth adding that the National Health Fund does not cover the costs of:
- travel to and from spa treatment;
- partial payment for meals and accommodation in health resorts;
- meals and accommodation while receiving outpatient treatment;
- stay of the patient's guardian;
- additional fees applicable at the location of the plant, e.g. resort fees;
- natural therapy and rehabilitation treatments not related to the underlying disease which is the direct cause of referral to spa treatment.
Treatments performed as part of a confirmed outpatient spa treatment are free of charge; the patient will bear the costs of the stay and will have to provide their own accommodation and meals.
It is possible to benefit from a completely free spa and free rehabilitation services under the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS). In this case, a referral from a doctor under your health insurance policy, which must be confirmed by the National Health Fund, is required.
In particular, preferential conditions are available to:
- children with a significant degree of disability - no age limit;
- children and young people up to the age of 18, and if they are still in education - up to the age of 26;
- children entitled to survivors' pension
- these groups do not bear the costs of food and accommodation in hospitals and health resorts.
The following persons can also benefit from a free stay in the sanatorium:
- workers involved in the production of asbestos products;
- distinguished Honorary Blood Donors;
- distinguished transplant donors;
- combatants, veterans, war invalids;
- military workers injured while working;
- people requiring constant or long-term care.
